Revisiting an old friend at Luggate farm house.
Luggate farm house, East Lothian.
This project is our second visit of restoration. We lime mortar roughcasting this building 5 years ago (can be seen in the past projects), this visit was to lime mortar repoint the Barn & outhouses.
Traditionally-constructed masonry buildings rely for weatherproofing on their ability to hold and evaporate water. Both stone and lime are porous materials and can’t totally be waterproofed (even with modern high-tech materials).
